Claire Dial will be double majoring in history and government at the Liberal Arts Honor College of the University of Texas at Austin. Claire has been with Ozsoy School of Ballet since she was a Kinder. Wow, how time flies. Hannah Clark, will be attending Joffrey Ballet School’s year round program to continue her dance studies. Hannah started with Ozsoy School of Ballet as a Level IV in 2009, but it seems as though she has been here for a lot longer than that. Crystal Sellars will be attending Angelo State University, majoring in nursing, with a minor in dance. Crystal has been with us off and on for four years.
Former student, Daniel Mantei Keene, now with American Ballet Theatre, is choreographing a new piece for Columbia Ballet Collaborative in New York. The premiere performance will be in November at Manhattan Movement Arts Center. Daniel is becoming quite a choreographer!!
Mr. Ozsoy had a wonderful time teaching master classes at Compañia Nacional de Danza in Mexico City and coaching the principal dancers for the ballet “Esmeralda” to be performed in September. The director, Sylvie Reynaud, and the dancers really wanted him to return for the performance on September 23rd, so he went back to Mexico City for the show and it was spectacular.
The Joffrey Ballet School’s ballet and contemporary performance is this weekend at the Symphony Center in New York City tonight and tomorrow afternoon. Mr. Ozsoy’s piece “Paquita” is closing the show and guess who is dancing in that piece? None other than former student Bethany Schaffer! Mr. Ozsoy was pleasantly surprised when Bethany showed up in his performance group. She is currently dancing at Mercyhurst in Pennsylvania and was accepted into Joffrey’s summer program (again). I’m sure the performances will be a huge success.
